KI Biobank is a core facility hosted by MEB for all departments at KI. Its purpose is to provide professional sample and data services to medical research that improves healthcare and public health. The facility typically serves defined research studies which collect and use samples and sample-related data. With over ten years of growing service the biobank now holds samples and related data from over half a million Swedish residents.

The laboratory unit of KI Biobank operates and develops the sample services we offer to medical research. It is vital that its work maintains high quality and ethical standards and keeps pace with the rapidly evolving technology opportunities and needs of medical research.

We currently need to strengthen our laboratory service team and now seek one to two laboratory technicians to join us.

Your mission

Performing laboratory processes including, but not limited to: sample reception, sample sorting and processing, manual and automated sample storage and withdraw, DNA extraction and genotyping; eukaryotic cell culturing, and density gradient cell separation. You will be partly responsible for ensuring daily, weekly, monthly and yearly robotic maintenance, contribute to development and quality work such as writing SOPs and other relevant documentation. You will also participate in answering the laboratory telephone for customer questions.

Your profile

We expect you to possess the following:

  • A minimum of a BSc/BMA degree in life sciences.
  • Experience of biobank sample handling and processes.
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written, knowledge of Swedish preferable.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Beneficial but not required:

  • PBMC isolation experience.
  • Experience of using Tecan Evo laboratory automation.
  • Experience using a laboratory information management system.
  • Experience of using and maintaining Roche PVT tube sorting instruments.
  • Knowledge of a basic programming language.
