The Svenningsson lab is a translational and multidisciplinary research group studying movement disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease, and depression. We use cellular and animal models and analyse samples and biopsies from patients. Our goals are to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying disease states, and to identify novel biomarkers and medically relevant therapeutic targets. At the clinic, we do longitudinal studies on cohorts of patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, assessing both motor and non-motor symptoms. We also perform clinical trials with novel pharmacological therapies.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc, with an interest in translational Neuroscience and a strong background in cellular and molecular biology to be involved in one or more projects investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying Parkinson’s disease and its treatments.
Read some of our recent papers.
The postdoc will use molecular biology methods to develop assays and cellular models for studying molecular events underlying parkinsonism and its treatments involving GPCR- and signalling-mediated approaches.
We expect the successful candidate to be able to significantly contribute to the planning and management of their project(s), as well as to the writing of manuscripts and navigation of the peer-review process.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
