An opportunity to join a productive research group with an excellent track record from using Scandinavian data sources to perform studies of relevance to public health and clinical medicine (see group Peter Ueda and Björn Pasternak).
The candidate is expected to lead register-based studies of health outcomes among football (soccer) players. The position is flexible, and the candidate will be able to work on other existing projects within the research group related to cardiovascular epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology. There will also be opportunities to pursue new venues of research with the support of the supervisors.
The candidate is expected to lead the data analysis and presentation of studies on health outcomes among football (soccer players). The background is the recent controversy regarding potential associations of playing football on the elite level with risk of neurodegenerative disease later in life (Mackay DF et al. NEJM 2019). There will be an established dataset on elite football players and the candidate will lead the creation and analysis of a large national cohort of amateur and elite football players.
In addition to this project, there will be opportunities to pursue other lines of research within the focus areas of the research group (see our previous publications) or pursue new venues of research. We will provide supervision and support with the aim of making the candidate a successful applicant to future faculty positions (e.g. Assistant Professor at KI).
Funding is available for up to 2 years.
