The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.
Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 70 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.
Together with other researchers, you will contribute to research within three research projects: “Aging in place – from policy to practice”, “Inequality dynamics over the life course” and “Health and social care for older people in the wake of Covid-19”. The research projects concern studies of shortcomings in the structure and quality of health and social care for older people with complex care needs in Sweden using a mixed method approach. Your focus will primarily be on the quantitative aspects of the projects, doing analyses on register data from multiple databases. The position is placed within the Social Gerontology unit at ARC.
During the postdoctoral appointment period, you will be expected to contribute to the development of specific research topics within these programs, as well as other ongoing work within the unit. You will also be expected to take an active part in applications for research funding.
The position will include some teaching and course administration.
This is a temporary full-time position of 1 year (2022.02.01 – 2023.01.31).

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This position is suitable for you who are at the beginning of your research career and have recent experience as a doctoral student.
