The CTMR started in January 2016 as a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab) and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. The Center builds on a deep understanding of translational microbiome research and has established a broad technical, biological, clinical, and epidemiological platform for studying complex microbiological communities in well-defined human materials. The collaboration forms a solid foundation for understanding the contribution of the microbiome to normal physiology and pathophysiology and opens opportunities for the development of novel therapies to address gastroenterology, reproductive health, and neonatology.
The Center aims at creating a scientific translational environment with a broad interdisciplinary approach to the interface between clinical epidemiology and the microbiological, immunological, and genetic aspects of the human microbiome and its association to health and disease.
Your mission
The postdoc researcher will focus on gastrointestinal and women’s health projects, with a strong focus on biostatistics, state-of-the-art human microbiome techniques, and large population-based studies. This includes data management and statistical analyses in prospective microbiome studies already finished and partly analyzed. Close interaction with the epidemiology team, bioinformatics team, lab-core and clinical collaborators is expected.
An important merit is previous experience with data management and statistical analyses using the Swedish/Nordic health registries, and good (bio-) medical/clinical understanding of the microbiome in particular in relation to gastrointestinal diseases and women’s health. A strong background in clinical research applying epidemiological methods is also advantageous. Strong skills in biostatistics, working with large-scaled data (including data linkage and statistical analyses) and experience in coordinating larger projects are also required. This project does not include any lab-work, yet the successful applicant will be expected to be involved in Master and PhD supervision and some limited teaching tasks.
A person is eligible to be appointed as postdoc if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The persons appointed should primarily be ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than five years before the end of the application period.
