The group Cancer Genetics studies predisposition to cancer and do linkage analysis and association studies as well as next generation sequencing to search for new predisposing genes/gene variants. The aim is also to implement new knowledge in clinical praxis and design and evaluate surveillance programs for those found to be at increased risk. Your mission

We are looking for a post doctoral research fellow who is highly interested in cancer research and cancer prevention. The project will use existing materials of DNA from families with inherited cancer and to perform sequencing analysis of whole exome data as well as whole genome wide association studies and in any kind of analysis necessary to support the findings. Bioinformatic knowledge and experience and in particular experience from next generation sequencing is specially meritorious.
The applicant is expected to be a talented and highly motivated researcher and is expected to play a leading role in experimental design, experimentation, and presentation/publication of results. The candidate must be able to work within a team environment.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The candidate must have:

  • A doctoral degree in the fields of fields of Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular Genetics or Epidemiology
  • Demonstrated abilities in experiment design, interpretation
  • Demonstrated communication skills; demonstrated writing skills (in English)
  • The ideal candidates will have extensive training in genetics, molecular biology and/or bioinformatics. Experience with analyzing large-scale, and or next generation sequencing data is an advantage.
