Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

Your mission

As a postdoctoral researcher you will primarily be responsible for administering and actively participating in the tasks of the Impact Research group (https://ki.se/en/bionut/the-impact-research-group-marie-lof), Karolinska Institutet. You will be working under the supervision of Researcher Ioannis Ioakeimidis and Associate Professor and PI Marie Löf, in a project focusing on analysis of children’s food environment (e.g., outdoor food advertising in Swedish neighborhoods and around schools) and how it impacts their diet. Specifically, you will be required to; (a) participate in the design and implementation of school-based research in that domain, where the participating children will report on parameters of their immediate food environment, using custom ICT-assisted methodologies and mHealth tools, (b) lead the recording and analysis of food environments, by KI researchers, in various Swedish neighborhoods and around schools, and (c) will supervise the qualitative data collection within the schools, quantifying children’s awareness and beliefs about their food environments and its effect on children’s dietary choices and behaviors. Finally, (d) you will be responsible for leading the systematic analysis of the project’s outcomes and the authoring of relevant domain scientific publications in these domains. As a Postdoctoral researcher you will also be responsible for the ethical management of the above tasks, while you will contribute to the technological evaluation of the deployed mHealth tools and the data validations of the outcome datasets and will participate in relevant scientific and public dissemination activities in this domain.

Your profile

For this position, multidisciplinary scientific health/technological experience is required, preferably in the domains of nutritional science. The successful candidate should have documented – supported by appropriate documentation and publications – experience in the domains of: i) health-related behavioral analysis, preferably in dietary/eating behavior and in children, ii) school-based and food environment research, especially focusing on food advertisement content analysis, iii) technological know-how, documented through participation in technological, eHealth peer-reviewed publications. Documented participation in collaborative health/technology research projects is welcome, same as experience with popular science dissemination activities in schools and the general public. Finally, you should be able to exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. Very good knowledge of English, writing and speaking is required, as well as previous work with development and evaluation of mHealth studies. Fluent written and oral use of Swedish will also be appreciated.

We put great emphasis on personal suitability.
