A position as a Research Specialist is available in the lab of Urban Lendahl at the department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Karolinska Institutet. The lab is located at Neo, KI Flemingsberg, a newly opened research building with excellent infrastructure and world leading research.
The Lendahl laboratory is interested in the Notch signaling pathway in various organ systems and how dysregulated Notch signaling leads to disease, including diseases of the vasculature such as CADASIL. We use several different approaches to study Notch signaling, including transgenic mouse reporter gene and gene knock out models, various cell and molecular biology technologies, and single cell RNA-sequencing.
A position as a Research Specialist is now open in projects devoted to questions concerning the role of Notch signaling in the healthy and diseased vasculature. The project encompasses analysis of Notch signaling in the mouse brain vasculature as well as analysis of Notch-related vascular diseases (CADASIL and other cerebral small vessel diseases) in humans. The project encompasses extensive use of single cell transcription analysis techniques.
To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, applicants must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist who can collaborate, communicate and function well in a team. The following qualifications are required: Experience of experimental work focused on the Notch signaling pathway and the mouse vasculature. The successful applicant should have knowledge about mouse genetics methods, skills and appropriate certificate for mouse animal work, experience in FACS analysis, single cell transcriptomics, whole genome sequencing (WGS) and histological methods including immunohistochemistry and methods for in situ hybridization, such as RNAscope.
Very good English oral and writing skills is a requirement.
Previous published work in the area of Notch signaling and vascular biology is a merit.
After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
