Do you want to contribute to improving human health and contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) conducts research and education in the field of neuroscience from the molecular level to the society level. The clinical research and education is conducted in collaboration with Region Stockholm as well as other research groups from Karolinska Institutet and other universities.

Your mission

We are now looking for a chemist for a fixed-term employment of one year with a chance of extension.

Positron emission tomography (PET) is a non-invasive molecular imaging technique increasingly used in biomedical research and drug development. A fundamental pre-requisite for PET is the radioactive tracer molecule used in the emission measurement, which can be designed with exquisite specificity to open up opportunities for research into completely new aspects of human physiology in vivo. There is a large unmet need for new PET tracer molecules and your contributions are vital to assist the PET group at Karolinska Institutet in their development. We present an opportunity for you to join a highly engaged team working in the interface between academic and industrial research as an integral part of an extensive collaboration between the PET Group at Karolinska Institutet and AstraZeneca. Your duties will comprise work on the development of new radiochemistry methods and the labeling of new radiotracers as well as on the production of tracers for preclinical and clinical PET studies.

Your profile

We are now looking for a skilled and motivated radio chemist with a master's degree in organic chemistry or technical chemistry. It is advantageous if you also have research experience in PET radiochemistry and ongoing or completed doctoral studies in this area.

Experience in research and production of 11C- and 18F-labeled tracers is meritorious, as well as solid knowledge in chemical analysis and use of chemical engineering equipment, such as HPLC, GC and LC-MS.
