The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. Experimental neuroscience with focus on neurodegenerative disorders.
The positions are affiliated to the Division of Neurogeriatric, which has of about 65 employees. The division conducts experimental and translational research related primarily to neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia and spinal cord injury. The division has a strong focus on the integration of basic molecular neuroscience research with translational and clinical research. Research areas include metabolism of the amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) and other misfolded protein aggregates, mitochondrial dysfunction, electrophysiology, neuroinflammation, neurovascular biology, biomarkers, as well as genetic and environmental risk factors. The division is mainly located at KI Campus Solna in Bio Clinicum but also has a small group at KI Campus Flemingsberg in Neo.
We are looking for highly qualified researchers with strong commitments to initiate, lead and develop research in the division of neurogeriatrics, both conceptually and methodologically. The position as senior lecturer also includes supervision of bachelor's and master's students, doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in projects in neurodegeneration and dementia, as well as teaching at the undergraduate, advanced and doctoral level in the subject area.
To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the person must have demonstrated research and teaching expertise, as well as management, development and collaborative skills (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).
Experience in basic and translaional research and with extensive research in the subject area of neurodegenerative diseases and with experience of coordinating and leading. Experience in teaching and supervision in the field, as well as extensive international publications.
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific expertise (3), pedagogical expertise (2), leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2).

The applicant shall also have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education (or have equivalent competence), as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution. If the person appointed for the position is lacking such education at the time of the employment, the appointee must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.
