Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet and is organized in several research divisions. The Clinical Epidemiology Division is home to six research groups that conduct research in population-based epidemiology through the use of register-based health care data, often supplemented with information from medical records, biological samples and surveys, to address questions that aim to improve patient health care and clinical practice. The projects conducted at the division typically have a strong clinical anchoring.

We are now looking for a highly motivated part-time (50%) biostatistician to join our cancer epidemiology group to work on both applied and methodological research in the field of population-based cancer patient survival analysis.

Your mission

The candidate will join a research team of statisticians, oncologists and hematologists who perform studies that aim to increase the understanding of lymphoma survival and survivorship issues.

We are now looking to expand our research group with a biostatistician who can assist in developing and implementing new statistical methods for epidemiologic modelling of cancer patient survival, as well as support ongoing applied research performed by our group.

The candidate will also contribute to the planning of forthcoming data-driven clinical research projects, for example by assisting in the development of study protocols and statistical analysis plans, and by performing statistical analyses.

Your profile

The successful applicant should have a Master degree in mathematical statistics with sound knowledge in programming and machine/statistical learning that enables the candidate to work independently in projects. Prior documented experience from data-driven epidemiological modelling using e.g., R, or Python is a requirement. Experience from statistical methods development projects is a strong merit.

Excellent knowledge of spoken and written scientific English and strong presentation skills are essential. Teaching experience is a merit. In the assessment of the candidates, we place particular emphasis on interpersonal skills.
