Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

You will be joining the Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine. Our research aims at understanding the risk factors and prognostic indicators for different chronic diseases as well as comorbidities between different diseases. We use different research tools in addressing these research questions, including population and health registers, large scale cohort and case-control studies, as well as different biobanks. We integrate closely epidemiology with other pre-clinical and clinical research.

Your mission

The work will focus on the understanding the comorbidity between cardiovascular disease and mental disorders, with an emphasis on understanding the genetic and non-genetic determinants as well as potential biomarkers for such comorbidity. We use large-scale register-based studies as well as biobank data in Sweden for this research purpose. The recruited postdoc will take lead in data analysis and result interpretation and dissemination. The recruited postdoc is also expected to contribute to other ongoing projects of the team. The position is for one year.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

You should have PhD degree within the field of epidemiology. Previous experience with research on cardiometabolic disease or mental disorders will be a plus. Knowledge on twin studies, including hands-on experience with the Swedish health registers (e.g., the Swedish Twin Registry), is also meritorious. The position requires advanced level knowledge of programming in SAS, Stata and/or R. You should also have experience in working independently on projects and driving them forward, with senior supervision.
