We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the group of Professor Johan Sandberg as a Postdoctoral Fellow in a project concerning the immunobiology of Mucosa-associated Invariant T (MAIT) cells. The research group is based at CIM, a nationally leading and internationally competitive environment for studies of the human immune system in the context of infectious diseases. CIM is located within the Department of Medicine Huddinge the Karolinska Institutet ANA Futura research facilities in Flemingsberg.

Duties

The project will be focused on the anti-microbial responses and functions of human MAIT cells to help understand the role of these cells in health and disease. The candidate will work closely together with Professor Johan Sandberg, focusing on human MAIT cell immunology and the immunopathogenesis of infectious diseases. Entry requirements

Applicants must have relevant university education and hold a PhD degree in human immunology research. We are looking for a person with significant experience of with multiparameter flow cytometry and work with human T or B lymphocytes. Experience of sequencing techniques, and clonotypic analysis of antigen-specific cells will also be considered as merits. Applicants should have first author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. Excellent cooperation skills, communication skills and computer skills are necessary. Good knowledge in written and spoken English is required.

Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
A scholarship for carrying out postdoctoral research can be granted for a maximum of two years within a four year period following the receipt of a doctoral degree or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) start date of the post doctoral education.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

Type of scholarship

The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
