The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). Research at the department
The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics carries out epidemiologic research of many kinds ranging from traditional epidemiology to genetic and molecular epidemiology and has a number of strong research areas including psychiatric/ cancer/ infectious/ reproductive/ cardiovascular epidemiology and biostatistics. Unique Swedish resources and prerequisites - such as several large prospective studies, ongoing nationwide case-control studies, large nationwide research registries, record linkage capabilities and access to clinical data as well as biologic material - are effectively explored at the department.

The Department is host to a number of large projects and registers:

  • The Swedish Twin Registry
  • CRISP center ”Cancer Risk Prediction and Prevention Center” of prostate and breast cancer
  • Karma (Karolinska Mammography Project for Risk Prediction of Breast Cancer)
  • The SIMSAM project “SIMSAM MEB family design”
  • The two SSF centers of bipolar disease and cervical cancer
  • KI Biobank (core facility)

We are now inviting applicants for 1 – 4 positions as Research Associate in Medical Epidemiology and/ or Biostatistics.

Employment
The position is for 2 plus 2 years after evaluation.

Entry requirements
To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor's degree or a qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who have completed their degree no more than seven years before the last date for applications should be given priority.
