MSc student scholarship position available within the Malaria research group, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology. The project is embedded in a strong international collaboration in frame of a large EU Commission funded platform for antimalarial development clinical trials (EDCTP), presently undergoing in West Africa .
The research aims on understanding the molecular epidemiology of in vivo resistance of the malaria parasite against a novel active agent, KAF156 (Ganaplacide)-Lumefantrine (DS)(Novartis AG), under development through an academia/industry collaboration. Additionally, human pharmacogenetics will be studied, to explore ADME factors involved in the disposition of KAF156 (Ganaplacide).
As an MSc student, you will participate on the development of Next Generation targeted sequencing protocols, targeting the drug resistance genes, pfcarl, pfmdr1, pfcrt, pfugt and pfact

Registered Master student in biomedical sciences, with a preference for global health expertise. Previous experience in molecular epidemiology, including pharmacogenetics strongly desired.

A scholarship on undergraduate and graduate level education aim to provide undergraduate or advanced level students early practical experience of research work to strengthen the link between education and research and encourage future studies at the doctoral level.
The scholarships can either be given for studies within an existing course, or for a shorter period of practice research experience (documented by an individual study plan / research plan) for admitted students at undergraduate or advanced level.

The scholarships may be established for a maximum of 12 months, divided into a maximum of four courses / periods.
The amount is tax free and can be established for a maximum of twelve months.
