Our goal is to develop antiviral and vaccine against emerging viral diseases, such as COVID-19 and viral haemorrhagic fevers. Our research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaboration with other scientist around the globe. Approximately 250 people are currently working at the Department of Laboratory medicine in about 37 research groups with research profiles spanning from very basic to translational and clinical research.

Your mission

Your main role will be to contribute on understanding virus-Host cell interaction, by using reverse genetic- and stem cells- biology. You will have to play a leadership role and mentor MSc and internship students. You will have the opportunity to work with significant freedom and independence within an interdisciplinary as well as an international setting.

The position is for 2 years with possibilities for prolongation.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated senior postdoctoral researcher in emerging viral diseases. You should have extensive experience in reverse genetic technology on Bunyaviridae family members and also in working with stem cells. It is also requested that you have long experience to work in high containment laboratory from BSL-3 and BSL-4.

Fluency in English, a high level of organizational and communication skills, as well as an ability to work independently, is mandatory. The candidate is also expected to take a strong lead in managing project(s), contribute to writing manuscripts and mentor junior members of the team. Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
