Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

This postdoc project will be carried out in the research group of Docent Pauliina Damdimopoulou at the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGY) of the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology. Research and education at OBGY are focused on the many aspects of women’s reproductive health including ovarian biology, endometrial receptivity, fertility preservation, reproductive toxicology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and fetal medicine.

The present project will contribute to chemically safe environment by characterization of toxicity and adverse health effects of chemical exposures. The work will focus on the effects of chemicals on uterus and ovaries with infertility as an adverse outcome.

Your mission

You will study the effects of chemicals and their mixtures on female reproductive organs using in vitro methods. Specifically, you will use transcriptomic data combined with cell and tissue culture models to identify biomarkers of reproductive toxicity in the female. You will also participate in common lab duties of the group.

Further, you will help arrange meetings and events, collaborate with other researchers nationally and internationally, and participate in teaching activities. You will prepare reports, manuscripts, presentations and maintain contacts with the collaborator laboratories.

Your profile

We are looking for an aspiring researcher with documented experience in molecular biology methods such as transcriptomic analyses, cell and tissue culture, and histological RNA/protein expression analyses. In addition, you are familiar with toxicological research and biostatistics. You have experience of project coordination and management. Experience in dose-response modelling, bioinformatics and female reproductive biology are meriting.

The research environment is international, and the project involves tight collaboration with several other research groups and clinicians. Fluent spoken and written English is therefore a necessity, as well as good social skills. The project will also require meticulous documentation, and the candidate must have a detailed, careful, and well-organized work ethic. We value personal qualities in the selection of candidates.
