The Center for Translational Microbiome Research (CTMR) studies the role of the microbiome in human health with a focus on diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, women's health and reproduction, and cancer. The center is based on knowledge in microbiology, clinical epidemiology, gastroenterology and genomics. Over the past 4 years, an infrastructure has been built for large-scale DNA / RNA extraction and sequencing of human samples. We are now expanding with activities in the cultivation and characterization of microbes on a large scale for later development of medical products for individuals with disturbed normal flora. We collaborate with clinical researchers in a number of specialist areas where the connection between the microbiome and disease development is central.
The candidate is expected to perform research and development work in molecular microbiology. The position entails work both as part of a research and product development pipeline that requires adherence to GLP/pre-GMP protocols.
The main tasks of the applicant include the following:
The successful applicant will also be helping the team leader to organize, document and check the purity of samples for product development. Work will also include handling of strict anaerobic bacteria and a working knowledge, or interest to take on, of anaerobic culturing technology is a must.
To qualify, the applicant must meet the qualifications for the duties specified above. An in-depth understanding of molecular microbiology and at least five years of experience is necessary to perform the routine work.We prefer candidates with a PhD degree (or an equivalent foreign qualification) and documented research experience in research and development work.
