Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Join the dynamic and cooperative group of Prof. Maja Jagodic at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, which offers the opportunity to contribute to interactive research driven by pertinent clinical questions, combining deep molecular understanding of the mechanisms underlying Multiple Sclerosis (MS) with some of the most competitive clinical materials worldwide. You will benefit from a highly collaborative, engaged and international research environment committed to exploring innovative translational ideas in precision medicine where you will have a possibility to conduct research at the top international level in the field.

Your mission

The successful candidate will develop novel biomarkers of neurodegeneration and disease progression based on epigenetic marks and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. The work will include development and design of NGS-based assays, nucleic acid extraction from biological samples, library construction, data interpretation and presentation (data processing and analysis is optional). The successful candidate is expected to interact with many internal and extremal collaborators and to contribute to the efficient functioning of the unit.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who shares our passion for translational research and epigenetics and holds a Master’s degree in a relevant field.

Absolute Requirements

  • Excellent practical skills in molecular biology (in particular DNA and RNA processing and analysis)
  • Experience with and strong interest in NGS approaches (preferably down to the single-cell level)
  • Strong interest in method/assay development
  • Knowledge of mechanisms of gene regulation (in particular epigenetics)
  • Good command of spoken and written English

Preferred Requirements

The additional following skills would be judged favorably:

  • Strong interest in omics data analysis and interpretation
  • Programming skills (especially in R or Python/MATLAB)
