A Senior Lab Manager position is available in the 3D-EM facility at the Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading biomedical research institutes. The facility is located in newly built premises, specifically designed for high-end electron (cryo) microscopy. The facility currently features a Krios G3i with a Bioquantum K3, an Aquilos 2 cryo-FIB-SEM, a Leica SP8 cryo-confocal, a Talos 120C G2 and a range of sample-preparation equipment. All electron microscopes in the facility are controlled remotely and there are two specially built rooms with 10% relative humidity for cryo work. The position is initially for 13 months, with the possibility to be extended up to a total of two years.

Your mission

Further develop the facility workflow for cryo-CLEM from cells to tomogram segmentation
• Help and train users primarily from the Karolinska Institutet in the usage of the microscopes (Krios, Talos and Aquilos2) in the facility
• Oversee purchase, disposal, and maintenance of facility equipment, reagents and chemicals

Your profile

We are seeking a Facility Manager with extensive experience in high-end transmission electron microscopy. Previous extensive experience with 300 kV Krios systems (more than 2 years’ experience) is a requirement for the position. Furthermore, a strong and solid background in material-science electron microscopy is regarded as an advantage in the evaluation. PhD is required and also high-proficiency (native/fluent) in English.

As a Facility Manager in the KI 3D-EM facility you will work close to the other facility manager(s) and director and take shared responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the facility.
