Do you want to contribute to better health for all?

This postdoc project will be carried out in the research group of Docent Pauliina Damdimopoulou at the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGY) of the Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology. Research and education at OBGY are focused on the many aspects of women’s reproductive health including ovarian biology, endometrial receptivity, fertility preservation, reproductive toxicology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and fetal medicine. The present project will directly contribute to two on-going projects in the team: the EU-project ERIN (Ethically Responsible Innovations in Reproductive Medicine) and the Swedish Research Council project on ovarian cell types. The general topic of the work will be ovarian ageing, reproductive senescence and fertility preservation.

Your mission

You will study the effects of age, genetic polymorphism and chemical stressors on ovarian ageing using cutting-edge molecular genomics and biology tools. Specifically, you will carry out genotyping and single-cell transcriptomic profiling of human ovarian samples, perform advanced statistical and bioinformatic analyses, summarize data for publication and participate in common lab duties of the group.

Further, you will actively participate in ERIN capacity building and knowledge dissemination activities with focus on fertility preservation in women, you will help arrange activities in the field of reproductive medicine and medical ethics and assist in project coordination. You will deliver presentations at ERIN meetings and events, collaborate with other researchers nationally and internationally, and participate in teaching activities. You will prepare reports, manuscripts, presentations and maintain contacts with the collaborator laboratories.

Your profile

We are looking for an aspiring researcher with documented experience in advanced molecular biology methods such as single-cell transcriptomic analyses, primary cell cultures or histological RNA/protein expression analyses. In addition you can independently carry out bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic data. It is meriting to have experience of project coordination and management. Experience in reproductive biology and medicine, fertility preservation and/or ovarian biology.

The research environment is international, and the project involves tight collaboration with several other research groups and clinicians.
