Lars Sävendahl's research group the Pediatric Endocrinology Unit at the Department of Women's and Children's Health conducts translational, epidemiological and clinical research focused on childhood growth. We are a group consisting of academic clinicians and basic researchers who carry out internationally well-recognized translational research.

Your mission

You will work in the laboratory mainly with molecular and cellular physiological projects. The idea is that you will further develop your own research profile and contribute to the supervision of doctoral students and guest researchers.

Your profile

  • Eligible to be employed as a senior research specialist is the one who has:
  • completed a doctoral degree or has a foreign degree that is deemed to correspond to a Swedish doctoral degree,
  • demonstrated good scientific skill with a significant scientific production,
  • demonstrated good scientific independence where their own efforts have been significant,
  • research plan of good quality with a clear future potential

You need to have:

  • Good experience of cell- and organ cultures of cartilage cells and bones
  • Have extensive experience of cell- and molecular biology techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of cartilage- and bone physiology in relation to normal and pathologically deviating bone growth
  • A documented track record with supervision of laboratory-based students
  • Very good knowledge of English, both orally and in writing

We would like the applicant to be familiar with measurements of cartilage cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Experience of Western blot, PCR, ELISA and in vivo studies in different animal models including transgenic mice is a requirement. Applicants must have documented good knowledge to compile and present research results. A documented track record with supervision of students is required. As a person, we prefer that you are thorough, independent and easy to work with others.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Senior Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated good level of research expertise with significant scientific production. The applicant must also have demonstrated a good scientific independence to which their own contribution has been significant and a research plan of high quality with clear potential for the future.

  • Scientific original works, their quality and quantity with special regard to postgraduate studies.
  • Scientific independent ability demonstrated through leading and senior authorship.
  • Review articles and other scientific publications.
  • Presentations and scientific assignments at international congresses.
  • Research grants received in regional, national and international competition.
  • National and international research collaborations.
  • Research responsibility as a supervisor for degree project at advanced level, doctoral student and postdoctoral fellow.
  • Reviewers and evaluators of others' scientific work.
  • Research experience from a research group other than where the research education was conducted.
  • Development of one's own research profile within one's subject area.
  • Plan for future research based on current science.
