- with focus on research

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is recruiting a Professor in Biostatistics to strengthen the theoretical and methodological competence of the department’s biostatistics group. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of a dynamic biostatistics group that has grown from zero to 25 PhD biostatisticians in the last 25 years at one of the world’s top 50 universities and top 10 medical faculties ki.se/en/about/ranking-and-karolinska-institutet. You will have access to rich data and the opportunity to collaborate with world-leading medical scientists at a university that is investing in data-driven life science.

MEB conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, life science, pediatric, pharmaco, and geriatric epidemiology and biostatistics.

The MEB biostatistics group hosts approximately 40 biostatistical scientists, including four full professors of biostatistics and one professor emeritus. Group members conducts theoretical and methodological research in areas including causal inference, clinical trials, design and analysis of epidemiological studies, register-based research, twin and family studies, predictive modeling, image analysis, survival analysis, statistical genetics, and analyses of high-throughput data. Members of the group collaborate within the department, nationally, and internationally on research in biostatistics and applications in areas including cancer, psychiatric disorders, and aging. Further information can be found at ki.se/en/meb/meb-biostatistics-group

Part of the success of our department is due to our common research infrastructure and collaborative spirit. Researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., research administration, IT, database administration, and an applied biostatistics group). Only researchers who are interested in this model should consider applying.
