Andras Simon’s group studies mechanisms of regeneration in newts, which are aquatic salamanders. During the past years the group has developed methods that enable us to characterize how these animals replace damaged or degenerating tissues with new ones. Duties

The work consists of assisting in the generation and maintenance of transgenic salamander lines.The duties include preparation of DNA and viral particles, microinjection, breeding, genotyping of transgenic salamanders, animal husbandry, and cleaning of aquaria. Documentation and contact with researchers take place largely in English.

Entry requirements

We are looking primarily for someone who has documented understanding and experience working with molecular biology techniques and some experience handling research animals.

Previous experience of working with aquatic animals is an advantage. Education in natural science, laboratory science, biology or biomedicine to the degree level is also an advantage Good knowledge of English, especially in speech, is a requirement since we have many foreign researchers.

The candidate’s personal skills will be highly valued.
