The neuroepidemiology research group is focussed on increasing the understanding of neurological diseases, especially multiple sclerosis (MS), its course and consequences, and identifying factors that influence MS outcomes. The group includes epidemiologists, geneticists, neurologists, immunologists and statisticians. We aim to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations between researchers, patients and clinicians through several national and international projects. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you will have the opportunity to contribute to high quality research at international top level. The group currently consists of about ten people.

Your mission

We are looking for a postdoctor to perform epidemiological studies on the outcome of MS focusing on socioeconomic factors. This includes working with large datasets from the Swedish MS registry and other national and international databases. These research projects will be conducted within the neuroepidemiology group as well as part of collaborations.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

A PhD with experience in statistics / biostatistics or epidemiology is required. Analytical abilities will be stressed and the postdoctoral researcher will be expected to have at least 4 years of experience from working with large databases and patient registries as well as significant knowledge of different statistical analysis methods including experience from R, STATA and/or SAS. Excellent knowledge of English will be required. This position involves collaborations with colleagues, other research groups and larger consortia and hence the ability to work with others is essential. The successful candidate is also expected to be able to work independently and show initiative. We stress scientific expertise when assessing applicants.
