Welcome to a leading environment within Women’s and Children’s Health in the field of reproductive health. At the division of reproductive health we educate and train midwives for a national and international arena. We have an active environment where research and education develop in dialogue with the surrounding society. The teaching staff consists of senior lecturers, lecturers and professors. Several PhD students and postdoctoral fellows are associated with the unit.
At the division of reproductive health we conduct education in midwifery and research in the field of sexual, reproductive and perinatal health related to sexuality, pregnancy, delivery, the time after delivery including breast feeding, the newborn period, regulation of fertility including abortion and preventive measures related to sexual health in both a Swedish and global perspective.
As Senior Lecturer you will be expected to lead pedagogic development of education through high quality courses at advanced level with a focus on interactive pedagogics. You will participate in the pedagogic work at the department by participation in educational boards and training councils and will work with course management, teaching, supervision and examination within the midwifery program, independent courses, and commissioned training.
The position as Senior Lecturer also includes leading development and expansion of pedagogic missions, and collaborate with representatives for Region Stockholm for further development of missions/education.
As a Senior Lecturer you will also be conducting clinically oriented research projects with the aim to further develop and strengthen the field of reproductive health. You will be expected to be directly involved in supervision of PhD students and postdoctors in various research projects. Depending on the applicant’s background the position could be combined with a clinical position in Region Stockholm.
To be eligible for an employment as Senior Lecturer with focus on education and research, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated excellent pedagogical expertise and good scientific expertise (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).
The applicant must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery.
The applicant is also expected to conduct competitive research within reproductive health and to have experience as main supervisor of PhD students. Furthermore, the applicant should have ample experience from leadership at a high academic level and documented skills in pedagogics and leadership. The applicant must also have competences in accordance with the profile of the division in global and trans cultural health as well as have documented experience of obtaining research funding in competition.
The applicant shall also have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education (or have equivalent competence), as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution.
The Senior Lectureship has a focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: scientific expertise (2), pedagogical expertise (3) and leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2).
