The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of
medical science including aging, Alzheimer, biomaterial, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology,
functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry,
immunology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment,
including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department
resides in Neo at Campus Flemingsberg, a biomedical research building, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Your mission

We are looking for a Research Assistant (Forskningsassistent) to Marco Gerling’s research group.
https://ki.se/en/bionut/signalling-and-cellular-heterogeneity-in-cancer-marco-gerling-leander-blaas-rune-toftgard The group performs research on colorectal and pancreatic cancer and is looking for assistance with histological data collection for a project on liver metastases.

You will closely work with the pathologists of Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge and collect histopathological data, both through database research and light microscopy. You will receive pathology training by consultant pathologists and, based on that training, work independently to build a cohort of patients for further research studies.

The position is a temporary position for 3-6 months

Your profile

A medical background or previous experience with histopathology is a strong plus. You must be able to understand written medical Swedish to some extent, but you need not be able to communicate fluently. Basic knowledge of cancer biology is desired. The project is suited to be conducted either during the summer months, or earlier, depending on your availability.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
