Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The research team of Assistant Professor Sean Rudd is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher. Dr Rudd’s team conducts multidisciplinary research with the goal of improving treatment outcome for cancer patients. Housed within the well-established laboratory of Professor Thomas Helleday, this research team has obtained generous funding from the Swedish Research Council, the Swedish Cancer Society, the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund, and Karolinska Institutet. Dr Rudd’s team is placed within SciLifeLab, a national centre for molecular biosciences containing state-of-the-art high-throughput technology platforms together with world-leading research labs focused upon cancer biology, chemical biology, and precision medicine, amongst other topics.

Your mission

The project is centred upon investigating metabolic pathways inside cancer cells, with a particular focus upon genome stability and nucleotide metabolism, and the relationship of these pathways to cancer biology and therapy resistance. The successful candidate will employ an array of biochemical, molecular and cell biology-focused approaches, together with cross-disciplinary collaborations, to fulfil the translational research goals of this project, which is to ultimately improve cancer treatment.

See Dr Rudd’s group page or website for more information, together with selected publications: Rudd et al., 2020, EMBO Mol Med; Herold et al., 2017 Nat Med; Tsesmetzis et al., 2018, Cancers; Rudd et al., 2016, DNA Repair.
