Your mission

Major responsibility is in developing strong and goal-oriented bioinformatic support and coordination of related projects between groups within Division of Rheumatology. Successful candidate will be responsible for support and evaluation of the data, integration of the big data in studying of mechanisms of autoimmune diseases, prognosis of disease development and treatment outcomes prediction. These projects will include, but are not limited, to data generation by genome-wide genotyping, whole genome sequencing, DNA methylation studies, transcriptomics in human tissues, including spatial transcriptomics, and in single cells. Based on these activities, it is expected that high quality scientific publications will be generated, and that the candidate will be be active in applying for additional funds uring the time of work.

Your profile

The applicant should have PhD in genome analysis, and at least 5 published scientific articles (original articles and reviews). General knowledge in bioinformatics, genetics, genomics, and human pathology should be confirmed either through basic education or by contribution to the area with published articles. The applicant should be able to perform data preparation, quality control of data and bioinformatics analyses, including GWAS, single-cell, spatial and conventional transcriptomics analyses with available tools, including machine learning, and be able to modify and to adapt these tools to everyday practice. Excellent knowledge of R and Python programming is obligatory. Additionally, the applicant should demonstrate strong communication skills for collaboration in clinical environment.

Bases of assessment

Major evaluation criteria for the applicant will be the contemporary level of scientific expertise in bioinformatics and specifically in area of genetics, genomics and pharmacogenomics of autoimmune diseases with the focus on rheumatoid arthritis. Personal involvement in evaluation of big data within research projects, running up collaborative work and managing industrial and international collaborations are important criteria. Candidate’s data management efficiency and accuracy in publishing of research are essential. The candidate should be fluent in English and has ability to communicate in multiethnic environment.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the divison of reumatology.
