The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). Assisting with presentation and analysis of epidemiological data from a range of study designs and statistical models, using data sets from real world research, national registers and publicly-available sources; development of software tools, user help files and examples for epidemiologists in Stata and/or R; graphical display, typesetting, web design. This is a position of 3 months with possibility of extension.
MSc in biostatistics, or epidemiology, or Masters in public health (MPH) with a strong methodological component and proficiency in Stata and/or R. A broad knowledge of observational study designs and the common statistical models used in their analysis. Experience of different data sources/structures in areas of health and clinical research. Skills in R and/or Stata statistical software, Latex typesetting, web design.
Personal characteristics
Well-informed and curious concerning medical research, particularly epidemiology, public health, and statistical reasoning. Good document management and data management skills. Attention to details. Ability to multitask.
