Karolinska Institutet, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society

The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 540 employees and a revenue 2023 of 530 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

The Division of Occupational Therapy has approximately 40 employees who are teachers, researchers, doctoral candidates and administrative staff. In addition, the division has a large international network. Research and education on bachelor, master and doctoral level is conducted at the division. Research and research education is national and internationally leading within the area of occupational therapy.

Project

The work will take place in the research group Everyday Matters within the SFO-V financed Blue Sky project; “Co-creation in care for older people – learning and improvements in practice”. The project has an overarching aim to deepen the body of knowledge on co-creation in care for older people with the goal to contribute to learning and improvement in practice. The focus is on the development of specific approaches for co-creation in care settings; in nursing homes and home-care, The project focuses specifically on physical aspects of the environment in relation to everyday life activities and care practices. Researchers collaborate in the project with different actors within eldercare. The research is led by associate professor Lena Rosenberg together with other members of the research group.  

We are looking for an employee at a 50% post doc position during nine months, starting as soon as possible. The position might be prolonged.  

Your mission

Your work will consist of tasks at postdoctoral level such as project coordination, data collection, analysis, writing of scientific articles and communication of research findings in various contexts. You are also expected to actively participate in other activities of the research group. Lena Rosenberg is responsible for supervision within the project.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

We are looking for a person with a doctoral degree in a relevant area in relation to the project. You should have experience of involving people with dementia, staff and relatives in research.

Merit is knowledge of theories concerning the physical environment such as architecture and public places as well as occupational therapy/science.

You have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English and you have have practical experience in dementia care and knowledge of eldercare in Sweden. A prerequisite for the work is that you have good skills for collaboration, the ability to work independently and have a flexible approach.
