Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Unit of Integrative Epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is looking for 1-2 Assistant Professors who are interested in performing top quality epidemiologic research, with the aim to improve our understanding of chronic diseases including neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric disorders, and cancer. Our focus lies in identifying and evaluating novel risk factors and prognostic indicators for these diseases as well as understanding the comorbidity patterns between diseases. We use different research tools in addressing these research questions, including population and health registers, large scale cohort and case-control studies, as well as biobank data. We integrate closely epidemiology with other pre-clinical and clinical research.

Your mission

Your mission as an Assistant Professor is to strengthen and further develop the focused research areas of the Unit of Integrative Epidemiology. Important tasks of the employment include supervising junior researchers (master students, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers), establishing new external collaborations, and searching for and obtaining research funding (both as main applicant and co-applicant of other applications). Although the positions are targeted toward research, the selected candidates are also expected to contribute to the teaching activities of the unit and IMM.

The employment as Assistant Professor is time limited for 4 years with the right to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer.

Eligibility requirements

Those eligible for employment as an Assistant Professor are individuals who have been awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence.
