Your mission

The candidate will be working in a team at the department of Global Public Health. They will be involved in a research project exploring the social and economic costs of Tuberculosis (TB).  The chosen candidate will conduct the quantitative analysis feeding into the development and validation of a predictive risk score to assess TB patients likely to experience socio-economic consequences (catastrophic costs and stigma). The candidate will further be involved in the analysis to compare two different methodologies currently used by WHO to measure catastrophic costs among patients on TB treatment. The candidate will specifically support in developing the data analysis plan, and lead report writing, and relevant publications related to the projects. In addition, the chosen candidate will be expected to support/assist in the development of new research proposals by contributing to grant writing applications. Other additional tasks may apply, including but not limited to, reporting on the research project status, assisting with a systematic review on social protection and assisting in teaching activities that may take place within the scope of the department.

Your profile

The chosen applicant must have a master’s degree in social sciences, preferably with relevance to public health and/or health economics/ health policy. Previous experience related to implementation of public health programmes and costing studies. A proven interest in global health and previous work experience in low- and middle-income settings is required. Critical analysis skills of data with reference to global health, with previous experience working with data software like SPSS or Stata is compulsory. The candidate must show previous experience in research or project management, have experience in quantitative data analysis, systematic reviews and excellent command of English. The candidate should also have good communication skills and be able to work effectively in an international and interdisciplinary team. Previously published and experience with data software and modelling is meritorious.
