The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including aging, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, bioorganic chemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 250 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.
We are looking for a Researcher to Andreas Lennartsson´s research group.
The group is focusing on epigenetic regulation of normal myelopoiesis and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), (https://ki.se/en/bionut/epigenetic-regulation-of-leukemia-and-normal-blood-development-andreas-lennartsson). The aim is to identify key epigenetic factors that regulate multi-potency and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells and dissect how they contribute to the development of leukemic stem cells. We aim to understand epigenetic dysregulation in AML and to develop new treatment strategies based on epigenetic dysregulation.
The successful candidate´s main task will be to work on three projects: A) Single cell transcriptional drug response in primary AML cells, B) Exploiting cellular stress in sensitizing AML cells for novel treatment and C) The role of long non-coding RNA in AML. You will be responsible for coordinating the projects with involved collaborators, perform, and analyze experiments.
Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Qualifications
The applicant should hold a PhD from a related area as well as documented research after the defense, with experience in epigenomics of AML. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology and biochemistry with focus on AML pathways, ribosomal biology, nucleolar stress, and cancer signaling. Prior experience in single cell transcriptomics with C1 CAGE and lncRNA biology is encouraged. Experience in supervising students is also a strong merit. Candidates should be able to interact and work efficiently in a team. The projects are based on collaboration between different research groups, therefore strong social skills are required. Excellent knowledge of both spoken and written English is essential.
A person is eligible to be appointed Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after the defense of his or her doctoral thesis.
We stress research expertise when assessing applicants.
