The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Your mission

The employment has a focus on research. The position as senior lecturer involves research focusing on molecular dermatology and reparative medicine as well as teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Biomedicine. The applicant will be responsible for modules within the master’s programme in Molecular Techniques in Life Science. The duties include leading and conducting research and education in the field, including supervision of master and doctoral students in addition to postdoctoral fellows.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a senior lecturer, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the person must have demonstrated research and teaching expertise, as well as management, development and collaborative skills. Bases of assessment 

The Senior lectureship has a focus on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: research expertise (3), educational expertise (2), and leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2).

We are looking for a researcher with documented experience of leading and developing research of high international quality. The area includes research on the cell and molecular mechanisms of wound healing and RNA therapy. Extensive, high-quality publications in these subject areas, documented experience of coordinating and leading research projects, obtaining research grants as a main applicant (ongoing or previous), experience of academic leadership, as well as international collaborations are meritorious.

We expect the candidate has experience of education within programmes in Biomedicine and supervision on different levels. The appointee must have undergone 10 weeks (or equivalent competence) of higher education training in teaching in accordance with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher or having otherwise obtained equivalent knowledge. If the person appointed for the position is lacking such education at the time of the employment, the appointee must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, Karolinska Institutet will judge which of the candidates that have the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
