Our laboratory of Reproductive Medicine performs cutting-edge research in ovarian biology, endometrial receptivity, fertility preservation, reproductive toxicology, embryonic stem cells and developmental biology. Professor Andres Salumets’ research team is focused on translational research in reproductive medicine, and our research aims are contributing to solving some of the most pressing challenges in female reproductive healthcare by targeting the mechanisms associated with infertility and pregnancy complications. We are interested in developing and testing novel ideas to improve the success of fertility treatments, prevent and treat miscarriages, and implement novel genetic technologies in preconception and prenatal diagnostics.
The postdoc researcher employed in this position will be involved in research dedicated to improving the understanding of ovarian, follicular, oocyte and embryo biology by applying the state-of-the-art techniques, such as molecular genomics; cell and tissue targeting; genome editing; and organoid/artificial organ engineering and modelling.
In this role you will work with the colleagues within the research team and collaborate with other research groups nationally and internationally. You will participate in the team’s research activities by planning and conducting research. You will write and publish original research articles, reviews and reports in high impact scientific journals and communicate/disseminate research findings via other scientific media and communication channels including presentations in conferences. You will also deliver relevant lectures to students, academic peers and public.
To be eligible to be employed as a postdoc you must have obtained a doctorate (PhD) or have a degree deemed to be equivalent to a PhD degree and relevant scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
You should have scientific competence relevant to the field of research and considerable experience in one or several of the following disciplines:
The previous research experience in reproductive biology and medicine is not mandatory, but good to have.
The working language is English, and the applicant is expected to be proficient in both spoken and written English. A genuine interest in research, good collaboration and communication skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team are important for this position.
