The Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) conducts world leading research in aging, dementia, epidemiology and care sciences. This research extends from basic molecular and cell levels to clinical research and societal studies. NVS educates almost a third of KI students at basic and advanced levels. The Department has approximately 450 employees and a revenue 2018 of 490 million SEK. It comprises seven divisions, located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.

Aging Research Center (ARC), a division within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. It is a multidisciplinary academic environment, representing medicine (e.g., neurology, epidemiology, psychiatry, geriatrics), psychology (e.g., cognition, structural, functional, and molecular brain imaging), and social gerontology (e.g., sociology, public health, social epidemiology, social work). The center has around 75 employees, it has a strong focus on research with unique research resources, such as large-scale longitudinal studies and nationwide registries.

Your mission

We are seeking a highly talented, innovative and enthusiastic researcher with a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, with experience of brain imaging. The post-doc position is part of Jonas Persson’s research group at the Aging Research Center (ARC). Primary research activities include analysis of existing MRI brain imaging data as well as organizing new data collections involving functional and structural brain imaging with a focus of cognitive functions and aging. You will also be responsible for scientific presentation of the results and contribute to the scientific production of the research group. The position is for two years.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The ideal candidate has a background in cognitive neuroscience and experience in analyzing functional and structural MRI data. A focus of the project is to relate cognitive variables to brain activation (fMRI) data as well as gray-matter volumetric data and diffusion-tensor data (white-matter microstructure), and experience with this type of analyses is required. The candidate should have experience in programming (Matlab, R) as well as statistical analyses. Experience in analyzing longitudinal data and gene-brain interactions will be considered a merit.
