The research group ICU-Metabolism at the Division of Anaesthesiology and Intensive care at the Department of CLINTEC is a translational research group focusing on the metabolic and nutritional problems of critically ill patients treated in the intensive care unit. We are a group including academic clinicians and basal researchers and perform world leading research both in the clinic and in the lab.

Your mission

You will be working in our laboratory mainly with molecular and cellular physiology projects. Initially you will be working on an externally sponsored project, studying the effects of critical illness and nutrition on the regulation of cellular autophagy. The idea is that the applicant will further develop its own research profile based on this project. You will be responsible for the cell cultures and the laboratory analyses in the project and will be expected to perform most of the lab work. 

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after the defense of his or her doctoral thesis.

You must have:

  • Excellent experience with culturing primary human muscle cells and have extensive experience with molecular and cell metabolism techniques.
  • The candidate should have extensive knowledge of cell metabolism and preferably the influence of nutrition on this.
  • An ability to compile and present research results with good scientific publication track record is necessary.
  • A proven track record of supervising laboratory based students is needed.
  • Very good English communication and writing skills

Preferably the candidate is familiar with measurements of autophagy flux and mitochondrial metabolism.  Experience with immunofluorescence microscopy techniques is an advantage. Experience with Western Blot, qPCR, ELISA are an advantage. As a person, we prefer that you are thorough, independent and a team player.
