Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Proteomics Biomedicum Core Facility at the Karolinska Institutet have an open staff position in computational proteomics and bioinformatics.

Proteomics Biomedicum supports the biomedical research at KI and other universities using the latest generation mass spectrometry-based proteomics technologies. The facility provides service in the area of protein analysis, proteomics and systems biology with a strong focus on protein quantification, de novo sequencing, pathway analysis and single cell proteome analysis. The facility is very well equipped and operates eight Orbitrap LC-MS systems. Besides service, the facility is engaged in scientific collaborations as well as constantly renewing itself, adopting new methods of analysis. Scientific supervisor of the facility is Prof. Roman A. Zubarev.

Your mission

The position comprises back office as well as user desk tasks. It implies the development or implementation of workflows for proteomics data analysis and their application in service and collaboration. The main tasks involve continuous implementation of newly emerged proteomics data analysis workflows, developing SOPs based on these workflows, as well as processing LC-MS data, performing their quantitative and statistical analysis and higher-level bioinformatics tasks, such as pathway analysis. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the maintenance of data storage and web-based data sharing platforms. Occasional tasks will include new software evaluation and development of data interpretation or visualization tools for customers and collaborators.

The ideal candidate will also be involved in training activities, bioinformatics support of the collaborating research groups accessing the facility and consultations in experiment designs. The future direction of data analysis strategies at the facility will be significantly influenced by the professional contribution of the applicant.
