Within our group we perform immunological research and our focus is unconventional T cells, especially γδ T cells, as these immune cells have not so far been efficiently exploited. We are investigating γδ T cell reconstitution and functionality after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). This could help pave the way for more advanced and targeted approaches in cancer immunotherapy and in infectious diseases, particularly in patients undergoing HSCT. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you may contribute to high quality research on an internationally competitive level.
As a postdoctoral researcher you will be responsible for collecting cancer patient-derived material and isolate lymphocytes from peripheral blood, ascites and tumor. The applicant will also be responsible for analysis of patient samples from cancer patients. The applicant will be expected to use a wide range of immunological and biochemical techniques such as flow cytometry and intracellular staining for the characterization of these cells and to understand the environment in which these cells reside. The applicant will be involved in teaching and tutoring of Ph.D. and master students.
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
The applicant should have completed PhD in the field of immunology with the strong background in T cell biology. Experience multicolour flow cytometry, cell sorting and related software package (FACSDiva, FlowJo) is a prerequisite. We see that the candidate also has experience with PCR analysis and TCR excision circle analysis by PCR.
We are seeking for a highly motivated person with an interest in human immunology. Clear and concise communication and written skills in English are mandatory. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with the other group members and is expected to have high social skills. The succesful candidate is also expected to organize, plan, execute, and analyze experiments in an independent manner. We value personal qualities in the selection of candidates.
