The Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology (MTC) at Karolinska Institutet in Solna conducts research and teaching in immunology, infectious biology, cell biology and cancer. Our keywords are interdisciplinary, clinically based basic research and national and international cooperation. We are now looking for a research assistant during six months for the research group of Sonia Lain.

Your mission

You will be involved in driving a research project on the characterization of the effects of inhibitors of the enzyme DHODH on the viability and signaling pathways in retinoblastoma, an eye cancer that most commonly affects young children. In addition, you will study and design experiments to evaluate the potential significance of your findings from a clinical perspective.

Your profile

The candidate must have a PhD degree in biomedical science and should have extensive experience in western blotting, cell viability studies, Incucyte technology and flow cytometry in addition to expertise in cell culture, transfection and production of reporter cell lines. Knowledge on drug discovery in the cancer field, the cell cycle and nucleotide metabolism, as well as a deep understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the eye will be required. Oral presentation and writing skills should be described in your application.
