Come join our experimental Division of Renal Medicine (NEO; Flemingsberg) at the department for Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology. Our research profile is translational where we are utilizing both preclinical and clinical investigations to increase our understanding of why and how kidney failure develops and proceeds, and how we can battle cardiovascular complications under the uremic environment. We also focus on the educational activities dedicated for master and PhD students, as well as for postdocs. Our international group has expanded, and we are looking for a person who could assist with several duties related to our ongoing experimental projects and educational activities.

Your mission

As a research assistant you will be working closely with the principal investigator and your main duties will be related to:

  • Coordination of preclinical research projects
  • Preparation of clinical and experimental data collection and organization for further assessment
  • Compilation of data: data analysis and visualization of data, documentation of the research process; report writing and presentation of the results. Synchronization of material collection in hospital unit and even assistance to run specific tests in accordance together with members of the team
  • Assistance with the educational activities, including contacts with course participants and organizers, existing PhD students in the unit, preparations of the teaching and learning material, preparation of web-based activities, including seminars and journal clubs, as well as communication with the students directly for their need assessments of the scientific content for ongoing courses and other activities.

Your profile

We are looking for you who have a bachelor's degree in biomedicine or a related field, e.g. nursing, medical education or life sciences. The applicant need to have experience of working in the area that is relevant to our research studies and education.

Moreover, you need to have:

  • basic knowledge in the field (e.g. medical physiology and pathophysiology)
  • experimental expertise - educational training at laboratory environment) in the field of cardiorenal medicine
  • theoretical knowledge for ex-vivo and in vivo techniques to assess vascular function and measurements of biomarkers
  • experience of writing essays and popular science reports
  • excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised person with good collaboration skills and the ability to create contacts and networks. In addition, we are looking for you who are quality-conscious, good at solving and responding to problems and understand the importance of the diversity for the research and educational content.

We prefer if you have knowledge in Swedish language, as well as ability to handle IT technologies for preparation of web-based teaching and other related activities. Other qualifications that are nice to have: previous experience of working hands-on with experimental methods (ELISA, IHC, IF, EndoPat), and associated statistical analyses related to cardiorenal research, as well as the use or development of digital tools for data collection and communication is an advantage for this service.
