In our laboratory, we work on contributing to human health. We focus on head and neck and childhood cancer. We focus on identifying biomarkers with a prognostic and for targeted therapy. We also examine sensitivity of tumour and tumour cell lines to targeted therapy.

Your mission

You need to be technically highly skilled and be able to establish cell lines from tumours, cultivate cell lines with and without feeder layers. You need to be able to perform viability, proliferation, apoptosis and cytotoxicity tests. Be skilled in preparing DNA, RNA and be familiar with the bead based multiplex assay. Perform clonogenic assays. Additionally, skills in performing protein extractions and western blot would be beneficial. You need to be able to write scientific manuscripts independently, and perform complicated statistical analysis. Previous experience with head and neck and childhood tumours will be favourable.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

It is a benefit if you are familiar with the human papillomavirus field, be skilled in cell culture as indicated above and establishing cell lines from tumour cells. Theoretical and practical knowledge regarding how to perform viability, proliferation, apoptosis and cytotoxicity tests. Likewise be skilled in many laboratory techniques as specified above is necessary. You need to be able to write scientific manuscripts independently, and perform complicated statistical analysis. Since we are working in a group with many nationalities you need to flexible and easy going and be qualified in communicating orally and in writing in English.
