A postdoctoral researcher position is available within the area of working conditions, sleep disturbances, and dementia/Alzheimer disease. You will have a unique opportunity to work closely with top researchers in the field. Our research program aims to understand the influence of psychosocial stress over the working career and sleep disturbances on the risk of cognitive dysfunction/dementia. The area involves methods such as occupational and geriatric epidemiology, as well as advanced statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis.

Your mission

The candidate is expected to carry out research on the association of life course exposure to psychosocial work stress and sleep disturbances and the risk of cognitive dysfunction (i.e. cognitive impairment, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease). Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher should be able to perform advanced statistical analyses concerning repeated measures on exposures over time. The research will be carried out in consultation with project manager Torbjörn Åkerstedt and others. This is a temporary part-time position that we expect to last until 2022-07-31.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

What do we offer?

We are looking for applicants with knowledge of epidemiological and statistical data analyzes as well as experience of using eg STATA, SPSS, SAS and similar analysis programs. Excellent English skill is a requirement. Extra weight is given to applicants with research experience within dementia and/or stress. Clinical experience of working with patients with dementia/Alzheimer's disease/cognitive impairment is also an advantage. The work involves close collaboration with others and demands flexibility and excellent communication skills. A high degree of accuracy and independence is also important.
