Your mission

As an applied member of a biostatistics methods research group, you will work on research projects in a wide range of applications. Your main tasks are to:

  • Aid in carrying out the applied projects that the research members of the group are involved with. This involves help in planning, design, and analysis of studies, as well as interpretation and presentation of results in scientific articles.
  • Aid in the programming of simulation studies in methods works.
  • Participate in teaching, subject to requirements, and interests.

This position can to some extent be adapted to your competence, experience, and interests. There are also possibilities for pursuing your own research in biostatistics as part of your employment. The position will be in the research group of Associate Professor Erin Gabriel. Her group’s work focuses on advancing statistical methods in causal inference, machine learning and clinical trial design and on applied work in infectious disease. Your profile

You must have:

  • A master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics or mathematical statistics, and at least five years of experience in applied biostatistics or a Ph.D. in biostatistics.
  • Demonstrated outstanding expertise in R, including having coded a method from scratch.
  • Excellent communication skills and good command of spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated collaborative ability with non-statisticians

Additional merits:

  • Co-authorship of applied medical/epi or basic science publications
  • Demonstrated experience in HIV or other infectious disease research
  • Demonstrated experience with high dimensional biomarker research
  • Some experience in SAS and Stata
