Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine
The research at the Center for Infectious Medicine, CIM, is focused around studies of the immune system in the context of infections and cancer. The Center operates within the Department of Medicine, Karolinska Institutet at the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge. CIM has since its inauguration in 2002 rapidly grown and gained national and international recognition. The vision is to become one of the leading translational research centers within immunity, infectious diseases and immuno-oncology in Europe.

Division
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the group of Assistant Professor Marcus Buggert at CIM as a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a project concerning the immunobiology of T cells in tissues and viral infections. The project will be focused on identifying the function and compartmentalization of virus-specific CD8+ T cells in humans. More specifically, the candidate will dissect the resident or circulating pool of virus-specific CD8+ T cells via access to unique tissue sites through human organ donor networks and from individuals with experienced COVID-19. The research project will be in collaboration with domestic and international researchers and clinicians.

Duties
The position requires previous PhD experience within human immune cell biology and multiparameter flow cytometry. In addition, a strong candidate should have a strong background in studies of human T cell biology in viral infections. Experience of sequencing techniques, virological assays, and virus-specific T cells will also be considered as merits. Applicants should have first author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. The present position is based on new funding available immediately. If several highly qualified candidates are identified, we may opt to hire two Postdoctoral Fellows.

Entry requirements
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.

The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher.

Type of scholarship
The amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
