The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.
Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb
1 postdoctoral position is available within the Aging research group at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. The successful applicant will conduct studies in genetic epidemiology of neuropsychiatric diseases with a link to cognition and aging. The overall aim is to reveal shared and unique biological mechanisms of cognitive impairments seen in aging and neuropsychiatric diseases. Methods mainly include analyses of polygenic risk scores for schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease and other neuropsychiatric diseases, in relation to cognitive aging. Biological aging phenotypes may also be considered. Population-based cohorts from the Swedish Twin Register, the Genomic Aggregation Project in Sweden, the UK biobank, and other National Patient Registries will be used in the analyses. The position is 2 years with possibility of extension. For more information please contact Karolina Kauppi, see email addresses below.
