The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Part of the success of our department is due to our collaborative spirit where one factor is that researchers at the Department share and co-finance common resources (e.g., IT and an applied biostatistics group). The department is situated at campus Solna. Further information can be found at http://ki.se/en/meb

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Centre for Eating Disorders Innovation (CEDI) at MEB was established under the auspices of the Swedish Research Council. We are dedicated to applying novel and emerging methodologies and technologies to elucidate causal mechanisms underlying eating disorders.

Your mission

This research program aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of genetic and environmental factors that contribute to eating disorders. There are several ongoing studies related to eating disorders including 1) an in-depth study of identical twins who are discordant for anorexia nervosa, 2) a longitudinal study of severe and enduring anorexia nervosa, and 3) a large-scale study of bulimia nervosa and BED. The post-doctoral fellow should have a firm grounding in the psychology of eating disorders and be interested in contributing to an interdisciplinary group. The position will involve developing independent research programs with translational elements and disseminating clinical perspectives on CEDI research, in conjunction with ongoing activities at CEDI, project coordination, and psychological testing including diagnostics.

Your profile

Applicants should have a PhD in psychology or related disciplines and have clinical experience in eating disorders, as well as experience doing research with individuals with eating disorders, with demonstrated independence of previous supervisors. The applicant should be a licensed psychologist. The applicant should be familiar with eating disorders in specific and psychiatric illnesses in general, and should have experience teaching in clinical settings. Some knowledge of complex trait genomics is desirable. Fluency in Swedish is a necessity for patient interaction and a track record in writing scientific publications in English is preferred.

The applicant should be highly collegial, experienced in working in “team science” contexts, possess exceptional communication and organizational skills, know how to successfully multitask, and should be able to describe past examples of having developed structured approaches to solving unanticipated and complex problems.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

The position is for one year with the possibility of extension.
