The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.
The National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI) platform at SciLifeLab is a national resource that offers support and guidance, large-scale sequencing, and analysis of sequencing data to researchers and companies in Sweden. The Applications Development unit at NGI is now seeking a committed research engineer backfilling during a parental leave. We can offer a great opportunity for the right person to develop new skills and get the chance to contribute to the development of many widespread and interesting research projects.
The successful candidate will be conducting laboratory work involving various DNA/RNA sequencing applications. This includes DNA/RNA quality control, preparation of sequencing libraries, operating and performing maintenance of laboratory instruments. The position will include communication with users of the facility and participation in method development and validation work.
