Department
At the Department of Global Public Health we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 150 employees. In addition, we have around 80 PhD students.

Your mission
The holder of this fellowship is expected to contribute to scientific publications based on an intervention study of tobacco prevention in schools, designed as a cluster randomized experiment. Further, the P-D fellow is expected to teach in the educational programs and courses that are organized by the Department of Global Public Health. Other tasks include contributing to the scientific discussions within and outside the research group (for instance by giving own seminars), holding collaborations with other researchers and institutions, and applying for grants.

Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

Compulsory qualifications: A completed PhD education in a Public Health discipline, with particular profile in Epidemiology, is a requirement. Applicants shall have a documented experience in the design and analysis of epidemiologic studies, particularly intervention or clinical studies, and a broad knowledge on public health interventions. High proficiency in written and spoken English and Swedish is mandatory.

Additional merits: Documented experience of teaching at the university level, having obtained research grants in competition, having presented own research findings in international conferences are highly valuable merits. We will also place great value on experience of research in the domain of prevention and/or of smoking behavior specifically addressing children and adolescents.
